Abstract:
The environmental and financial impact of using hybrid types of renewable energy sources to operate communication towers in Saudi Arabia was studied. This research was in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 launched in 2016. This research studied elimination of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions to save human health, quality of life and sustainability. This research studied the reduction of operational costs using the concept of energy efficiency which presents less expenses to end users and developing the national economy. In addition, the research offers a radical solution for the installation of communication towers in remote locations using renewable energy sources. Methodology of this research was Experimental, Quantitative with case study. (HOMER Pro) software used to simulate system design and analyzed results. The new in this research was the first research in the field of telecommunications towers in Saudi Arabia. A new initiative was introduced, that was replacement of current air conditioners with renewable energy ones that perform the required function with high energy efficiency.
