Abstract:

 

The rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini has accelerated their integration into global education systems. However, adoption varies significantly across age groups, raising important pedagogical and ethical concerns—particularly in contexts with uneven digital readiness, such as Lebanese public schools. This quantitative cross-sectional study investigates generational differences in readiness, interest, ethical awareness, and actual usage of GenAI among 300 participants (200 Gen Z students aged 15–18 and 100 Generation X/Millennial teachers aged 45–60) from six public schools in central Beirut. Guided by Sociocultural Theory and Ethical Technology Adoption Theory, the study examines how cultural digital exposure and ethical orientations shape attitudes toward GenAI.
